Huge Crowd Expected at Rally for Public Education in Downtown Houston this Saturday

Houston, TX — Saturday May 19th, along with the members of the American Federation of Teachers, Democrat Lt. Governor Nominee, Mike Collier, will speak at the “Rally for Public Education”, Discovery Green in downton Houston, Texas on Saturday, May 19th at approximately 1:15 p.m.. The event will be streamed on Facebook Live. The rally begins at noon, and press is advised to arrive to the park at 11:30 a.m.. At that time, Collier will be made available for one-on-one interviews.

Up to a thousand or more people are expected to gather for the rally. Teachers from the area, as well as groups shuttled in from as far as El Paso will be in attendance. In addition to Collier’s speech, people in attendance will hear from representatives from AFT, former Republican Lt. Governor candidate Scott Milder, current Texas State Rep. Donna Howard, as well as others. Before and in between speeches, entertainment will be provided by local student organizations.

Per Collier, “It’s high time we start treating teachers with the respect they deserve. Join me this Saturday afternoon at Discovery Green in downtown Houston as we celebrate all that these wonderful Texans do for our children and our state. Together we’ll give lawmakers a lesson in Texas values.”
