Moritz: GOP Challenger to Patrick Endorses Collier

Scott Milder, a former city council member in the Dallas suburb of Rockwall, challenged Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick in the primary and hammered the incumbent for pushing the so-called bathroom bill and a plan to shuffle school property tax dollars into private education initiatives.

Milder was trounced, but not chastened. After the votes were tallied, he posted on his Facebook page that not only was he refusing to concede the race to Patrick, he was defecting to camp of Democrat Mike Collier in the general election.

“Dan Patrick refuses to listen or seek common ground on any issue,” said Milder, who collected just 24 percent of the vote. “He fights for state control over local control on many issues. There is nothing conservative or Republican about his priorities.”
