We’re on the air, friends.
For weeks we’ve been hammering Senator Glenn Hegar in the press and online with a simple message: Texas doesn’t need a massive sales tax increase.
I’ve been out there spreading the word. We’ve collected over 1,000 signatures on our petition calling on Senator Hegar to drop the idea. Now, even outside observers like Ross Ramsey, Executive Editor of the Texas Tribune, are noting that Senator Hegar’s tax plan would force Texas to more than double the State sales tax.
But Senator Hegar is digging in his heels, saying “I have not backtracked in any way from any statement.”
Who do you want collecting taxes and making economic forecasts for Texas? A politician who's been in the legislature for 12 years or a Certified Public Accountant who was the chief financial officer of an oil & gas company?
Taxpayers in Texas will want to hear this.
